Your notes

Who can see my notes? Nobody but you. If you join a household with your partner, ordinary lines you write flow to the book you share, and lines you mark private are held back; you can change either, line by line. Nobody at People By Heart reads your notes unless you ask for help with a specific one. See the Privacy Policy.

Does the person I write about ever find out? No. Notes are never shown to the people they describe, never linked to any account of theirs, and never used to contact them.

What does OpenAI get? The text of a note (and a photo, if you added one) to file it, and the relevant notes when the app asks you a question or answers one. OpenAI may not train on any of it and deletes it within 30 days. Your voice never goes to OpenAI: the iPhone turns speech into text on the device.

The app filed something wrong. Open the memory, tap the fact, and reply with the correction. Your reply becomes part of the record and the fact is fixed. Every fact shows the words it came from.

Your phone

The microphone, camera, contacts or calendar are not working. Open Settings on your phone, find People By Heart, and switch the permission on. The app only asks for a permission the first time you use that feature.

Is my calendar uploaded? Only a lean copy of the next month: each event's title, time, place and the people on file who are on it, so the website can show the same weeks as the phone. Notes and attendee emails never leave the phone. The copy refreshes when you open the app, and in the background when your phone allows it.

A note did not go through. Notes captured while offline wait on the phone and send when you are back online. If one is stuck, the You tab says so and offers to try again.

Your account

How do I get my data out? In the app, open You, then Account and data, then Download my data. On the website, click your name, open Your profile, then Account and data, for the same file or a folder of notes for Obsidian.

Can I take a break without losing anything? Yes. In You, open Account and data, tap Pause my account and choose how long. Nothing new is taken in and nothing is removed; resume any time.

How do I delete my account? In the app, open You, then Account and data, and tap Delete my account; on the website it is in the same place under your profile. It is immediate and permanent: your account, every note, person, fact and kept photo. A book shared with a partner stays with them.

I forgot my password. Tap “Forgot your password?” on the sign-in screen and we email you a link. If you signed up with Apple, there is no password; use the Apple button.
